I studied printed textiles at Chelsea College of Arts a few (😉) years ago. Since then I’ve worked in the industry and designed prints from London to New York to Cape Town & Dublin & for fabulously exciting clients. In the past few years digital printing has revolutionised the industry & made it so interesting, it’s amazing how much printed textiles has changed and how much it is appreciated now.
So it is really great to see projects like The Textile Project a unique mentoring programme in association with NCAD which nurtures and promotes young Irish Design Talent. My favourite stockists, Brown Thomas’ Creative Director, John Redmond and BT’s Creative team have worked with 21 students to create a series of prints that will be showcased on a special mannequin installation in store, 2 designs have been chosen to create a limited edition silk scarf and candle wrap for a Max Benjamin candle. I hope it is a very successful project for the designers and the start of a great career in print design. Congratulations to all involved!
The Irish Times Weekend Magazine’s ‘Fashion Foward’s Deirdre McQuillan & Dominique McMullan included my in their column this week …. sitting alongside Preen, Coach and some go-to ‘totally slept in’ outfits tips.

In March 2016, Margaret Molloy, the New York-based global chief marketing officer for branding firm Siegel+Gale, began sharing photos of herself wearing various Irish fashion pieces on her social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This year she has encouraged others to join in, to wear Irish and celebrate our heritage in March 2017. I was delighted to see her in Susannagh Grogan Scarves in many of her photos, along side other Irish designers that I admire. It’s such a fun campaign!
Below are some of my favourite selfie pics of Margaret wearing her Susannagh Grogan scarf collection. I was delighted to see her wearing one of my printed silk scarves in The Irish Times launch piece too.
My ‘Quotes Collection’ scarves have Oscar Wilde quotes placed discreetly in the corner, perfect for #Wearingirish. Do tag me if you join in! #Wearingirish
I’m really looking forward to the National Craft & Design Fair this week. I will be showing my unique printed silk scarves, as well as my new silk tunics and some of my printed leather. Susannagh Grogan Designs will be at Stand 39. Hope to see you there!
I have so enjoyed working on my new silk tunics, t-shirt and cover-ups! Finally we think the length is perfect and the fabric is perfect too. It took a while to get the simple shapes just right; with prints like mine colourful & busy, the shape needed to be very streamline! Early reaction has been fabulous and with a lovely mention in the Irish Times we had some great sales and had to get re making! 🙂
We were delighted that Constance Harris, FashEd of The Sunday Independent LIFE magazine, loves our scarves and she covered our recent scarf collection’s photoshoot in a fabulous 6 page spread! We had a great day on the shoot and Aisling O’Loughlin/Xpose from TV3 came out to film us. It was a fun day! 🙂
